Course Description

Emergency Medical Technician- Basic

Do you want to become an EMT?  Do you want to treat sick and injured people knowing that your help could make a big difference in their lives?  The Emergency Medical Technician - Basic course will prepare the motivated student to become a New York State certified EMT.

Course content covers all of the National Educational Standards curriculum required to participate in the May, 2019 New York State Practical Skills Exam and the New York State EMT Written Exam.  Students will experience learning in the classroom, in hands-on skills labs, and by doing ride-alongs on Northwell Health System ambulances.  Candidates who successfully complete all requirements of this course will be certified as New York State Emergency Medical Technicians.

*Students must be 17 by May 31 of their senior year to participate in the EMT program.
